  1. on one shoulder is HERON, telling me to finish those rules. on the other is CROCODILE, telling me i want NILT-SIAR and THE HERMIT RINPOCHE to get into a fist fight over the ESP scroll

  2. For consideration: One issue with using a scroll for a level up spell is it ends up, over a few weeks, as a net loss in money, since a scroll has value and research value.

    2nd level spell costs 2000gp to research, but scroll reduces this cost by 800gp.

    So eating the scroll (free) then researching a new lvl 2 spell from a book (2000gp) costs 2000gp total, and you need a magic text to work from.

    But getting a random lvl 2 spell from level-up (free) then researching the scroll spell (1200gp) costs 1200gp total, no text necessary.

    Though with the latter there is living with a random spell in the short term, though whether that is good or bad I cannot say.

    Also my numbers may be off.
