SESSION REPORT - SWORDS OF THE INNER SEA, SESSION 19
Setting out from GUNN LATTH, armed with javelins enchanted by WEND-WITHER THE SORCERER to be deadly to the WERE-LION DAL-GA, URSA THE MUSTACHIOED and his companions ROBARD THE THIRD, POLIORKETES HALF-FACE, SULOMUNDI THE VUTURE, MAZDAK THE GRIM, and COLD MOUNTAIN CONQUERS THE UNWISE sought revenge. Employing the dull-witted, severed-head-bearing man-at-arms R'BAN and the diminutive fishwife AATIFA as a bearer, the crossed the savannah with bloody purpose seeking the RUINED SEASIDE VILLA the were-lion was known to haunt. After stopping to converse with a HERMIT STRANDED IN A TREE (and provide him wine) and warily feeding oily shark-meat to a CHEETAH in a different tree along the way, they took up a position on a ridge near the villa, noting three LION GUARDIANS around the villa. Ursa set up an insulting banner and hurled invective at the villa, but earned no response. Making strafing runs on horseback, they pinned the lions with a few arrows, but only managed to drive the beasts inside.
Ursa decided shock tactics were his best option, and charged into the villa's gatehouse on the back of his water buffalo, but the beast stumbled into a pit lined with punji stakes, laming itself and injuring its rider. He crawled out and he and his companions pressed on into the villa courtyard, where they were met with a hail of arrows from naked LION-MASKED WARRIORS atop the courtyard mezzanine. They entered a pitched battle with the warriors and lions, and after an exchange of blows, Dal-Ga came leaping from the staircase of the villa tower, brutally mauling Ursa and leaving him to die slowly and twitching as the werelion turned his attention to Robard. His nomad companions were made short work of by the other lions, as well as was R'ban, and javelins, some dipped with PSYCHEDELIC HONEY flew wild, as did MYSTICAL SERPENTS spat forth by Wend Wither, before Poliorketes avenged Ursa by slaying Dal-Ga with Ursa's enchanted sword, which Poliorketes triumphantly dubbed LIONFUCKER. With three of the companions slain and others wounded, they fell back from the arrows, but once the most sorely wounded were safe, Poliorketes rashly entered again to slay the last lion, but was himself slain by a true-flying arrow that left him bleeding at an unstoppable rate. He was quickly avenged, however, as Mazdak stormed the mezzanine under the cover of Robard's javelins, forcing a surrender from the last, cowering archer MINO, who shattered his lion mask and declared Dal-Ga a false god.
Mazdak forced Mino to turn over the paltry coins the lion-masked warriors had hoarded, while Wend-Wither severed and collected the hands of Dal-Ga and his servitors for his own mysterious purposes. Mino also guided them through a Cannibal kitchen, and warned of the shrieking of dark spirits in the floors above where only Dal-Ga had the right to venture. Wounded and wary, they gathered their animals and their dead to head home, leaving Ursa's banner atop the ridge to commemorate the battle. Their journey was interrupted by the appearance from over a hill of GANIR and a band of his RED VULTURES, and after a tense confrontation, Robard paid them a toll to avoid a fight and let both parties leave with their pride intact. Fewer in number than they had left, the survivors returned to Gunn Latth.
